Honeymoon

We spent a wonderful sixteen day honeymoon in the Cook Islands, visiting the islands of Rarotonga, Aitutaki, and Atiu.

Rarotonga: the big island of the Cook Islands.

Aitutaki: a classic South Pacific atoll.

Atiu: a geological oddity, known as a raised island.

If you would like to learn more about this beautiful place, I recommend visiting the official Cook Islands website.

Where are the Cook Islands?

Many people have asked us where the Cook Islands are located.  So, below is a map of the Pacific, showing the two South Pacific island groups with which most people are familiar—Fiji and French Polynesia (Tahiti).  The Cook Islands are located between these two groups and are an independently governed set of islands in free association with New Zealand (also shown on the map).  The Cook Islands are the same degree of latitude south of the equator as Hawaii is north of the equator and both Hawaii and the Cook Islands are nearly at the same degree of longitude.
